Lyft & Caritas help homeless

Rideshare company Lyft gives back in many ways. Six months ago they teamed up with Caritas of Austin, TX to provide funds and free rides for those who were homeless get back on their feet. 

Caritas strives to prevent and end homelssness. From their about page: "Caritas of Austin believes that when every person has a stable place to call home, they can realize their full potential and contribute to our community. We build wellbeing by making sure that people have a safe home, access to healthy groceries, jobs that provide a reliable living wage, and educational opportunities to learn life skills..."

Both Caritas and Lyft have agreed to extend thier partnership for another six months and Lyft hopes to extend it indefinitiely based on the Austin need.

Lyft Helps During Natural Disaster

During a natural disaster or crisis, transportation needs become critical. Lyft has committed $1.5 million to the Lyft Relief Rides program over the next year. In addition to providing rides during natural disasters and other crisis, Lyft continues to reach out to others in need — including returning veteranslow-income individualsThey need rides to get to job interviews, medical appointments, etc. Lyft supports a wide array of people, depending on the needs of each local community.

Lyft’s mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation.
